Help me with this stupid situation, my sister and her wedding?
lela1026 asked:
my sis is gettting married in a couple of weeks after 11 years of shaking up and kids, house, cars ..the whole shabang. My sis insist on having a her dream wedding. My soon to be brother in law refused to go to wedding counseling so my sis had to find a person who would marry them w/o the counceling. My sis found such a person on the internet (who seems to be a jack of all trades) she deems to be fine, but i find suspious. I asked her to if she checked the lady’s licenses, she claimed she did, but then asked me how to do so online. I have come across the site for doctors but never for clergy, how can I help my sister with checking this out for free online? My sister lives in Maryland and will be getting married there.

I think you can have a cival servant such as a Mayor of the city marry you with out all the counseling.
Just a suggestion. Good luck

In Maryland you can have the Clerk of Court marry you, and sometimes they will come to an alternate location. She would have to inquire. If not, they may be able to recommend someone who can.

have your sister go to your local town/city hall and talk to an official down there…all it takes is a Justice of the Peace (JP) or in some cases you personally could be ordained over the internet…who would you trust more then yourself???

if your question is how can you check to make sure this person is lawful to do weddings then this is what you have to do.
Find out who she is licensed through? Call that organization and find out if she is licensed with them and if she is current and if the status she hold allows her to preform wedding.
then you need to call your local court house and find out if this organization is recognized as having legal athourity to preform weddings.
you have to make sure that she meets both of these requirements becuase the organization might be legit but if she is not current or authorized by the organization its invalid and she might be authorized by the organization but not regognized by your state thus making it invalid.
I am not sure how you would do it on line but it can be done by phone and she shouldnt hesitate to give you the information if she does something is up.
hope that helps
