Achilles Tendinitis! Been to doctor, please help, need to wear high heels in 2 weeks for wedding?
I have been to the doctor and been diagnosed with achillies tendinitis. I am a bridesmaid in my sisters wedding in 2 weeks and need to wear high heels. Docotr has told me I can light exercise as i attend a gym and run. I have been walking and cycling, feels ok while doing this but once home very painful to walk on. some times get sharp pains up the leg and cannot put pressure on foot. The achilles area is swollen slightly. Last weekend I was doing a job in which I was sitting down for 9 hours straight. Walked to car from this job and had no problems at all with foot and no swelling whatsoever. I am a mum of 5 so total rest normally is out of the question. I am wondering if any one out there know about the achillies foot/leg supports that make your foot not able to move as like a plaster cast does. It just covers the back of foot and leg, and if that would help. Sometimes hurts just lying in bed and very tight and sore in the morning and after sitting for short periods. Thanks

Hi
I feel for you…eek…I had this from playing ball in hs and college…
some ways that I relieved it..so I could just play ball..while being careful at the same time…
1. They have things called “night splints”. I got mine thru eastboy catalog. They can be expensive..but also inexpensive. You just have to look around. What I would do..is wear it to bed..and then when I woke up in the morning..while sitting on the side of my bed…rub the bottom of my foot..and stretch my achilles (back of heel)..then take a frozen tennis ball…and roll my foot on it (as I sat on the side of bed). Then I would gradually stand..and it felt a little better…
2. Stretch your achilles
*towel stretch (fold towel over long way) and loop under foot like a stirrup..lay on your back or sit up and stretch foot/achilles area…gently..not forcefully…ice when finished..followed by a warm foot soak (up to knee area) in the bathtub
3. In shoes..wear a heel lift. I just soft foam (from foot care aisle in CVS) into a wedge..shaped of my heel (traced my heel area…to in front of my ankle bone) and cut out..taped together and put in my shoe of injured foot..it helped give me a support
4. They have achilles band braces …Might want to wear that at rehearsal or up until the wedding…I find that when i have my shoes off ..it would hurt less..also..wouldn’t hurt as much after walking on it..usually the first few steps.
5. Ask for an injection of cortison (from foot dr) if continues to bother you. This would work a few days before the wedding. Tends to wear off after about 5 days.
Stretch…is what helped me the most..and ice…!
Good luck
I hope you feel better…: )
