  1. Car rental agencies generally have infant seats available with their cars. You need, however, to reserve the seat when you reserve the car. It is also wise to call ahead to the local agency where you will pick up the car to confirm that the car seat is available.

  2. Definitely bring the carseat. First, you’ll need it on the plane. Second, I would never trust a rental agency’s seat. We did when our daughter was on her first trip at 10 weeks. I can’t believe I did it now, looking back on it. Flew cross country with her as a lap baby and rented not one but two seats. Ick. You have no idea what the history of the seats are that you rent. They may have been drop kicked constantly, installed improperly, involved in an accident the renter didn’t deem worthy of reporting (all seats except for Britax seats need to be replaced even after a minor accident), had acid spilled on them, who knows.

Plus you’ll need one for the plane. A 15 month old is too little to sit in just the lap belt, and it’s not safe for them to be a lap baby. Here’s a video about lap babies:

  3. I’d advise you to bring a car seat with you. Although, what we do is we rent a car and purchase one at Target or Wal-Mart that is inexpensive that we use and when we bring it home we put it in as luggage. It would cost more if you rented from the car rental company anyway.

  4. YES….if you are travelling on an airplane, you need a carseat. If you are travelling by car , you need one.

UNTIL A CHILD IS 60lbs or 5yrs old!!!!

  5. Buy at carseat at walmart before you leave. If you win enough to cover the cost then donate it to a local church when you get home, spread the love of child safety.
