Ring Insurance, how can I be covered if I lose the wedding set?
chocolate_krys2000 asked:
My jewler has us set up for protection against theft and things that are beyond my control, but what if I simply lose or misplace the ring? I have State Farm for Car and rental Insurance, can they insure my ring? What insurance policy will cover me if I lose my wedding ring? It seems as if all these policies are not going to cover if the loss is due to my own negliegence.

The only thing you can do is insure the ring itself. That was if it’s ever lost you can then replace it.

Your renters insurance can cover it if it is listed on the policy.
I know someone whose wedding ring slipped off her finger into a running garbage disposal. The insurance company (on her brand new policy) paid the replacement value.

Contact State Farm and let them know that you want to add the ring onto your renter’s insurance. They will put a rider on your insurance policy that should cover theft, loss, or damage to the ring.

Check your rider regarding your Renter’s insurance. Your rings may or may not already be covered, but few(if any) policies are going to cover negligence. Otherwise, all anyone would have to do is say, “Whoops! I lost my _______, give me a check!”, and later when they find it there’s be massive drama. Here’s some links regarding actual wedding ring insurance;
One thing you can do to safeguard your rings is to get inexpensive replicas to wear for everyday, and keep the originals in a hidden lock-box or safety deposit box. It’s even recommended that you not wear your real rings while on your honeymoon to avoid theft.

Check with your insurer to see the circumstances it will cover and for what amount. If it’s a LOT of bling, you may want to take out extra insurance.

Your ring would be covered under your rental insurance, but talk to your agent to see if you need a rider for it. Your deductible would still be your cost.
Many places insure jewelry against loss even if you just lose it. However, if you ever find the ring, you have to return it to the insurance company or return the money because they own that ring once they pay out.

You can check with your renters insurance vut generally no, not if you simply loose it. If it get broken somehow, stolen from the house or what not it will be covered. but putting it down and it dissaapearing you can call theft if its not found

What you want is a Personal Articles policy with State Farm. Call your agent – they will let you know the price. They are generally inexpensive – and cover “mysterious disappearance” which includes losing it.
