What problems did you experience in regard to your wedding ceremony that I could help brides avoid?

livnlrn asked:

I am a new wedding coordinator for my church. My responsibilities will be coordinating the rehearsal and all the events that lead up to and through the actual ceremony and until the wedding party departs for the reception. I am interested in real life pitfalls to avoid and any special touches to help make this a memorable event for the couples with whom I will be working. Thank you

  1. at my step dad and my moms wedding, they entrusted my 10 year old brother with the real ring. when he was called as the ring barrer to deliver the ring there was no sign of it…we searched for about 20 minutes until we found it lying on the floor…it was a very embarassing experince..so, make sure the ring barrer is good or give him a fake ring

  2. Our microphone kept cutting in and out. Although we were on a private beach in Mexico which is likely the “real” culprit. Just check to make sure that the sound is good before the ceremony. I’m sure that’s something that is always done in a church though =)

  3. Keep it cool in the church so no-one overheats and passes out
Keep the bride comfotable and un-nerved if possible
make sure sound systems is working correctly
wedding music ready to go on key

  4. Personally, my wedding was planned in 3 months, my mother and I planned it alone. We did not have the traditional church wedding. One problem we had was a groomsmen couldn’t attend last minute. I myself forgot to take a hair tie off my wrist for half the ceremony!!! HA HA! My step son, was the ring bearer and he spilled chocolate milk on his white shirt 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony, I had to run to wal-mart and grab him a new one on my way to the ceremony, have a back up outfit along for younger children. We also had a vehicle break down two days before the ceremony. My father got drunk and didn’t show up. My tiara kept falling to the side. At the reception there was just no order, nothing went according to plan.

  5. I am a wedding planner…. I could give you a list of what to watch out for

-uninvited or guests who said no and come. Always be sure there is room and dinner for 2-4 more
-have an emergency kit for forgotten items- sewing kit for rips, medications (tylenol, pepto), bandaids, ahirspray, saftly pins, bobby pins, deoderant, breath mints, anything people may forget and need
-have then do a ceremony practice so everyone knows what to do and where to stand
-make sure everyone (bride, groom paretns and wedding party) is in agreement so you dont have day of complications and fights
-ask the bride and groom of possible issues (ex’s, guest who wont get along, unruly kids)
-have things to keep kids busy (toys, coloring, puzzles). Quiet things that will occupy them.
-write everythign down! There is never too much info to have
    -follow up!
